China Draws No Crowds on Release Day – may be should not say this as the photo was taken from only one city.
A likely explanation for many is the lack of crowds is the results of growing preference in China for online shopping with many simply pre-ordering their devices online and having them delivered straight to their doorstep.
Of course, it could be lack of enthusiastic response. Others are speculating that perhaps everyone in China is simply waiting for the iPhone X to arrive in November. If this is true, Apple is really shooting at their own feet.
