The bank net income fell 18 percent to S$789 million in the three months to December last year from a year earlier. This fell below the analysts average forecast.

OCBC has been expanding its wealth unit, last year a strategy that included buying Barclays’s wealth-management units in Singapore and Hong Kong. This makes the bank can compete more equally in Asia with its larger rivals like DBS and UBS Group AG.
