Moses’ Free MACD Scan
MACD, Moving Average Convergence Divergence, is a trend following momentum indicator that shows the relationship of two moving averages of prices action.
MACD is made up of 2 lines, the MACD line and signal line.
Four common methods to trade:
1. Crossovers – Bearish, MACD falls below the signal line for sell strategy. Bullish, MACD rallies above the signal line for buy strategy. It is advisable to wait for confirmation to reduce whipsaw.
2. Divergence – The security price action diverges from the MACD. It signals the end of the current trend.
3. Cross Zero Line – move above or below zero line. Cross above zero line, short MA above long MA; upward trend. Cross below zero line, short MA below long MA, downward trend.
4. Dramatic rise – MACD rises dramatically – when the shorter moving average pulls away from the longer-term moving average. – Overbought or Oversold.
